Canfield Avenue Elementary School

In order to accomplish our mission of enriching the educational experience of ALL Canfield students, we depend upon the financial support from our Canfield parents and our community. Private donations are our primary source of funding the following curriculum enhancements:

Teacher’s Aides (8 TA’s have been funded by FOC for the 2011-12 school year—2 more than last year),
Full Time P.E. Coach,
Poetry Instruction (2nd and 4th Grades),
Maintaining/Upgrading Classroom Technologies (SmartBoards, Laptops, etc.)
Librarian, Books and Library Equipment
Field Trips

You can support our fundraising efforts by participating in the following fundraisers throughout the year: Annual Giving Fund, Book Fairs, Jog-a-thon, Spring Fundraising Gala,  Local Advertising Programs, and Gift Wrap Drive, .

Q: What is the Annual Giving Fund?
A: A yearly Charitable Donation campaign that allows the Parents at Canfield Avenue Elementary to supplement our Children’s education that is not paid for by L.A.U.S.D.. These programs include: Teachers aides in classrooms, Physical Education Teacher, Librarian, technology in the classroom, special programs unique to our school such as Poetry Café and any other unforeseen expenses that might arise.

Q: Why support the Annual Giving Fund
A: Each child benefits from the curriculum enhancements provided by these funds so each family is asked to contribute. Our Annual Giving Find is the largest source of funding to Friends of Canfield. EVERY dollar counts and EVERY DONATION counts!

Q: How much should I give?
A: We are asking every family to contribute---100% participation. The suggested donation is $600 per child. We understand that some families can afford to give more and some less...Giving what you feel you can afford is better than not giving at all.

Q: When should I give?
A: NOW!  Our goal this year is  "$100K by the 100th Day", whis is February 22,2012. While we will accept donations throughout the year, we would like to receive the majority of pledges by this date. Donate by November 10 and receive one of the follwoing "Earlybird" Donor Incentives based on your total donation amount:
$150+     Receive two free tickets to the Aquarium of the Pacific.

$300+     Receive two free tickets to the Aquarium of the Pacific AND a Canfield Reusable Grocery (@$29)    Bag.

$600+     Receive two free tickets to the Aquarium of the Pacific, a Canfield Reusable Grocery (@$50)    Bag, AND one entry into a drawing for a 16GB iPad2.

$1200+    Receive two free tickets to the Aquarium of the Pacific, a Canfield Reusable Grocery (@$100)   Bag, two entry into a drawing for a 16GB iPad2, AND two tickets to the Canfield Spring                      Gala.

Note:  The value of the incentives is not tax deductible.  You can choose not to receive these gifts by checking the appropriate box on the donation page.

There is a reason that Scholastic awarded Canfield First Prize from over 50,000 other School Book Fairs in 2008....we put on an amazing Book Fair! In awarding Canfield the top honor, Scholastic noted our consistently creative and innovative fairs. We involve the whole Canfield Community in the design, setup and selling. In particular, we put particular emphasis on the student's artwork and involvement in making and loaning decorations. Scholastic recognized that Canfield's Scholastic Book fair is beyond a mere sale - it is a collaborative and shining example of teamwork and of our unique Canfield community.

When you shop our fair (and invite friends and relatives to shop as well), you are helping to support our growing library.
